The Council for Licensed Conveyancers is the regulatory body for Licensed Conveyancers in the United Kingdom who are qualified specialist property lawyers. The Council for Licensed Conveyancers maintain a regulatory environment, so that the public is protected and Licensed Conveyancers can prosper in a thriving, competitive market.

Up until 1987, the conveyancing process (the legal processes of transferring buildings and/or land from one owner to another and the financial transactions that go with that) was the sole responsibility of solicitors in the UK. But under current legislation, other people can now become Licensed conveyancers.

The Administration of Justice Act of 1985 makes it the Council for Licensed Conveyancers' duty to ensure that Licensed conveyancers are competent and conduct themselves in a professional manner, so that conveyance services are provided both economically and efficiently, while consumers are protected.
